Revisiting My Grandma's Quilt - On Dye Lots
On dye lots
This is a good example of how much the colours can change from dye lot to dye lot. We are comparing the colour of different skeins of Simply Shaker - Antique Rose 7014.
The original sample of My Grandma’s Quilt was stitched over 10 years ago.
The first skein on the left is about 7 years old. The middle skein is about 5 years old. The skein on the right was purchased this May! And when you compare it to the original stitched sample, you see yet another colour variation.

The colour differences between the skeins is wild! The most recent skein (far right) is closer to the original .
When you buy thread, make sure you get enough for the whole piece (and maybe an extra skein just in case). Even from skein to skein there can be significant colour differences.
Also, sift through all the skeins on the rack and pick your favourite!
