2026 Mini-Pillow Stitch Along - January Pillow Thread Selections

It's been so much fun searching through my stash for fun threads.  I've been stitching for over 30 years and I have lots of threads left over from previous projects (I call them orphan threads) - many of which I am thrilled to work with again on a new project.

Here's the picture of my big thread pull - it's pretty obvious by looking at these threads what my favourite colours are!  

I dove in to the "big bucket of threads" and came up with these colours (below) for my January mini-pillow!

Interestingly, my thread picks are completely different that what Freda used to design the pillows!   Pick threads and colours you like - make this project your own!

My plan is to use the turquoise/purple as the foundation for all of the pillows and then add other colours (greens/oranges/pinks) along the way as complementary colours.... with a smattering of metallics and shiny threads thrown in just to make things interesting!

Below is a list of all of the threads that are pictured above.  I have a variety of partially used skeins, cards and spools in this selection - they won't all be used for the January pillow, but I do have a good foundation of colours here for the other monthly pillows.  I'll go back to the "big bucket of threads" and add something new for next month's pillow.

I didn't have any white 18 count mono canvas in my stash so I did have to buy some.  I ended up choosing a white mono canvas with a silver sparkle.  That will make things interesting!
